The CRAA is an aide to total consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary according to St. Louis de Montfort and in a similar spirit to the Militia Immaculata of St. Maximilian Kolbe. The CRAA is my personal response to being consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary as prescribed by St. Louis and to the Immaculata in the MI. The CRAA itself has no affiliation with the MI or any other Marian apostolate.
~ Walter Adams (Pen Name S.T. Martin), Founder of the CRAA
“A consecrated, royalist spiritual army seeking the reign of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Social Kingship of Christ through the Catholic Monarchy.”
“True devotion (to Mary)… aims essentially at union with Jesus under the guidance of Mary. The form and practice of this devotion may vary according to time, place, and personal inclination. Within the bounds of sound and safe doctrine, of orthodoxy and dignity of worship, the Church leaves her children a just margin of liberty. She is conscious that true and perfect devotion to Our Lady is not bound up in any particular modes in such a way that one of them can claim a monopoly over the others.” ~ Pope Pius XII (Audience on the occasion of St. Louis de Montfort’s canonization, July 21, 1947)
“As this devotion essentially consists in a state of soul, it will not be understood in the same way by everyone. Some – the greatest majority – will stop short at the threshold and go no further. Others – not many – will take but one step into its interior. Who will take a second step? Who will take a third? Finally, who will remain in it permanently?” ~ St. Louis de Montfort on True Devotion to Mary
The CRAA Mission Statement
“The mission of the Counterrevolutionary and Royal Army of America is to form a spiritual army seeking the Social Kingship of Christ first through the reign of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in all hearts and societies and secondly through the establishment of an integralist Catholic Monarchy.
In fulfilling her mission, the CRAA seeks the co-patronage, friendship, and sisterly care of Ste. Jehanne d’Arc and Ste. Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus to aid us in persevering in sanctifying grace and in our devotion to Mary and to imbue us in the Traditional French Catholic experience as a guide to the integral Catholic Monarchy.
With Traditional French Catholicism as a guide, we seek a contemplative counterrevolutionary Catholic worldview which will consequentially influence through us the restoration of Christendom in social, cultural, and political affairs.
The CRAA seeks peaceful change in the temporal realm through the free acts of converted people living a life of sanctifying grace.”
The CRAA is only one of three integral steps for seeking, growing, and persevering in sanctifying grace. For more information on “seeking, loving, and defending” the Kingdom, visit:
Joining The Counterrevolutionary and Royal Army of America (CRAA)
The Counterrevolutionary and Royal Army of America (CRAA) is a contemplative based initiative dedicated to the reign of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Social Kingship of Christ through the Catholic Monarchy and in the friendship and sisterly care of Ste. Jehanne d’Arc and Ste. Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus. The CRAA is inspired directly by the Armée Catholique et Royale, an 18th century counterrevolutionary movement from the Vendée/Bocage region of western France during the French Revolution.
To “join” the CRAA, it is important to note that though we have temporal cultural and political aims through our efforts to establish a Catholic Monarchy, the foundation of our work is a Marian, Eucharistic, contemplative orientation in union with the co-patronesses of France, St. Joan of Arc and St. Thérèse of Lisieux. The focus is to inspire others to contemplate these concepts with Our Lord in adoration of the Eucharist through the Immaculate Heart of Mary and in the friendship and sisterly care of St. Joan and St. Thérèse.
The “action” side of the CRAA should be the individualized outcome of one’s experience with Our Lord and Our Lady. Guided and organized by Our Lord and Our Lady under the co-patronage of St. Joan and St. Thérèse, those of us sharing similar ideals then create the organizational initiatives.
Our goal is the conversion of hearts and the sanctification of society through those converted hearts.
Therefore, to “join” the CRAA, one should consider the following steps:
- Consecrate yourself to the Virgin Mary through any Church approved means such as that of St. Louis de Montfort and/or St. Maximilian Kolbe.
- Regularly (daily if possible, or at least weekly) adore Our Lord in the Eucharist, seeking His will for your life and His wisdom.
- Consecrate yourself to St. Joan of Arc and St. Thérèse of Lisieux and follow The Dove and Rose devotion as a means to most fully consecrate yourself to Our Lady.
- Devote yourself to learning and understanding the Faith, Church history, the role of Monarchy in the development of Western Catholic civilization, and the spiritual writings of the saints.
- Pray for, and act upon, a zealous spirit of evangelism “for Our Lady and for the Monarchy,” in whatever manner Our Lord desires for you.
- Seek ways to promote the CRAA either individually or by promoting a CRAA organizational initiative (e.g., establishing a local chapter, giving conferences, forming political networks…etc.).
- Always obey your Bishop and the authority of the magisterium of the Church.
The CRAA is the spiritual counterrevolutionary arm of the The Dove and Rose, which is a sister initiative devoted to Ste. Jehanne d’Arc and Ste. Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus that seeks to help us grow in sanctifying grace. Together, the CRAA and the Dove and Rose Devotees seek to expand the Kingdom of God on earth (the seed of which is the Catholic Church), where Jesus Christ is worshiped and honored as our mighty King, the most holy and immaculate Virgin Mary is rightfully honored as our glorious Queen, and the Saints are honored as our noble sisters and brothers. Is this not what we were taught to pray by our Master? “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
The “heart” of the CRAA is a desire to work in the friendship and sisterly care of Ste. Jehanne d’Arc and Ste. Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus for the Social Kingship of Christ and the reign of the Immaculate Heart of Mary through a Catholic Monarchy. We see ourselves as fulfilling the noble objective of the Militia of the Immaculata of St. Maximilian Kolbe (though the CRAA itself has no association with the MI), particularly through an emphasis on devotion to the Renaissance of Catholic France, the restoration of the French Catholic Monarchy along with all Catholic Monarchies of Christendom, and even the establishment of a Catholic Monarchy in the United States.
